Wongan Hills Apex Club's 'Bogan Bingo' Evening
Held in February 2024, the event was a huge success, raising an impressive $11,500 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
The night attracted 120 attendees from various locations, including Moora, Bunbury, Toodyay, Perth, and the local area. The event featured a range of fun activities and games, with many guests enthusiastically dressing up in classic ‘Bogan’ outfits to embrace the theme.
Local businesses generously supported the event by donating goods for the auction and raffles, while others contributed cash directly to the event’s MyCause page.
To further engage the community, the Wongan Hills Fire Brigade was invited to participate by selling burgers, providing them with an opportunity to increase their visibility and raise funds for their own initiatives.
The Apex Club also provided a courtesy bus service, collecting visitors from the caravan park and local residents, ensuring everyone arrived and returned home safely.
In the lead-up to the event, the club organised fundraising BBQs to raise additional funds and promote ticket sales. The dedication of the club’s members, along with countless volunteer hours, resulted in a highly successful evening and a significant amount raised for RFDS.
Due to its success, the Apex Club now plans to make ‘Bogan Bingo’ an annual event, continuing to support RFDS and bringing the community together for a night of fun and fundraising.
This well-organised, community-driven event is a deserving candidate for Community Event of the Year for 2025.
